My 2020 Recap!

2020 was such a crazy year! I don't really know how else to describe it. This year was a year full of obstacles and lessons. It's been a rollercoaster of highs and lows. I lost friendships, made new friendships, and strengthened old ones. I only got to see my parents twice this year, and that's been really hard. My anxiety has been through the roof this year. But it hasn't all been negative. Some good things happened this year too.

For the past two years, I've been doing recap posts. Since things were so different this year, it will be interesting to see what this recap looks like haha. So let's jump right into it!

Started off the year being basically snowed in. Which isn't unusual for the midwest haha. J released a new album. January was full of hope. With the new album, we were so excited to travel to shows for him to sing at. Little did we know, all the shows were going to shut down later in the year.

Wedding planning was taking over our lives. We had already started planning the wedding, but had a few things come up. I won't go into too much detail. We celebrated Valentine's Day. I enjoyed sitting on the porch with Bella when the temps got just a little warmer. And a random selfie just because. 😊

J's gospel show was still happening. We didn't know that it would be one of the last gospel shows that people would be able to attend. We started hearing more about Covid, and started staying home more. Times started getting crazy.

We kind of celebrated Easter. It was so weird being at home watching Easter service on Facebook, instead of being there in person. The second picture was pretty much how I spent my April haha 😂 It was nice being able to get outside and start enjoying some Spring temps. Always nice drinking coffee with Momma Lou. Well me drinking the coffee, her sniffing my coffee because of my dairy coffee creamer.

I also ordered my wedding dress! I went by myself to order it. I could only pick so many people to go with me, and I didn't want to leave anyone out. It was also kind of nice to go by myself.

Bella turned 3 on May 4th. I can't believe she's already 3! J had a show in May. The show was taking extra precaution with everything going on. And everyone wore masks. It was so nice to be able to go to a show and see people. I've always been super introverted so I never expected myself to miss seeing people as much as I have. If that makes sense.

Also in May, I turned 24! I didn't get to spend my birthday quite how I wanted, but it was still a fun day with J. And yes, I am holding a whiskey bottle in that picture. 😂

Started off the month by chopping 7 inches off my hair. June was a really hard month for me. Just had a bunch of stuff going on. Marked 110 days until our wedding. And J's brother got married! J and I were in the wedding and we had to get a picture together in our matching outfits!

We decided to venture out a little more in July, but obviously kept it safe! We were able to spend 4th of July with J's family, which was really fun. Then we went to a friends lake house for a weekend. It was such a needed weekend. We were all super careful and spent most of the time outside and in the lake. It was just so nice to be around friends ❤️

I also had to include this picture of Tabs because she's just adorable!

I pretty much spent all of August in the swimming pool haha.

We also made the difficult decision to postpone our wedding. It wasn't an easy decision to make, but we felt like it was best with all the craziness going on.

I started experiencing more anxiety. I've had anxiety for many years, but this month especially I noticed it getting worse. I'd been under so much stress with stuff going on in my life, and it just made really anxious. Not going to go into too much detail because talking about my anxiety on here makes me feel weird for some reason.

J and I tried to get outside more, because we wanted to, and to hopefully be able to help my anxiety. We walked on a local nature trail, and it was so much fun! Such a beautiful trail. I also had a lot of fun decorating my house for fall!

J and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary. And celebrated 2 years engaged. ❤️ We were supposed to get married this month. But we are going to try to get married October 2021.

The temps were still kind of nice, so I spent a lot of my time enjoying my coffee on the porch!

I voted this month. Spent lots of time in leopard print cozy clothes at home. Celebrated Thanksgiving and was only able to video chat with my parents. It was super weird.

J's birthday was at the beginning of this month. Drank lots of coffee because that's just what I do. Celebrated Christmas without my parents and other family. And that was really hard to do. Christmas was not Christmas this year. I was honestly kind of a Grinch this year.

I'm very excited that today is the first day of 2021. I felt like this day was going to take forever to get here! And it kind of felt like it. Did anyone else feel like 10 years went by in just 1 year? I know that everything won't magically be fixed by today, (wouldn't that be nice?) but I'm just ready for the new year. Ready for a fresh start, to set new goals for the year, and just ready to see what 2021 has in store.

XO, Chelsea
